Get to Know Us
The Quinnipiac Film Society is the largest film organization on campus. We serve as an outlet for Quinnipiac filmmakers and film enthusiasts that want to be involved in the movie-making experience. We meet once a week where we discuss new films, share ideas, and create films. Films can be any genre, no idea is too grand or too strange. We have large productions every semester, mini-productions in a smaller group setting, movie nights, our annual Sundance trip, and the Quinnies, our awards night where members can submit films that they have made over the course of the year. There is no need to be a film major to be a part of this great organization- all are welcome.
PRODUCTIONS
Each semester, the Quinnipiac Film Society has members submit scripts that they’ve written to be considered as the fall and spring production. Once a film idea is chosen by the executive board, members can then sign up for positions in any production role. The executive board, along with the director, assistant director, and producer will hold auditions for the chosen production. Members will get a chance to experience the involvement and workflow of creating, producing, and editing a film. This is a great opportunity for portfolios, resume building, and hands-on experience in preparation for the real world.
Channeling | A QFS Production Short Film
A small production setting where members get into groups of about 5-6 people. Writing, directing, and editing are all done, which is a great chance to get experience for resumes and portfolios. After all of the mini-productions are shot and edited, QFS has a screening night of what members created.
The Sundance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in the United States. Every year, the Quinnipiac Film Society selects members to fly to Park City, Utah where it is held to see unreleased films and meet the industry's most celebrated artists. You do not have to be a film major to go!
The Quinnies are the Quinnipiac Film Society's night to acknowledge the work of filmmakers at QU. Students who submit their films have a chance of winning prizes for the following categories: Best Story, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Picture, and People's Choice.
